VISBYLYKTAN - A TRIBUTE TO THE WORLD HERITAGE CITY OF VISBY
Visbylyktan - A lantern in Visby's beautiful silhouette. Made of brushed, galvanized steel, it reflects the feeling of the historic city wall and the whitewashed facades that characterize the World Heritage city. When the lantern is lit, it spreads a warm, atmospheric glow and gives a vivid, three-dimensional feeling of the unique architecture of the inner city.
Every detail of the silhouette is carefully crafted to reflect the multifaceted cityscape – from medieval spires to modern elements. And if you look closely, you’ll find a small cat slinking along the outline – a subtle reminder of the vibrant Visby, where history and everyday life meet.
The Visby lantern was developed in a collaboration between Elena Berg Österdahl and Thomas Johansson Britse, M Johanssons Smide, and was launched exclusively for Hansaday 2025.
VISBYLYKTAN was named "World Heritage Product of the Year" in 2025 as Visby celebrates 30 years as a World Heritage Site.
